The BVGD is a member of four powerful German tourism associations: the DZT (German National Tourism Board, GNTB), the DTV (German Tourism Association), the DRV (German Travel Association) and the RDA (International Coach Tourism Federation). This means that the BVGD is intensely involved in the exchange with the institutions and persons politically and economically important to the German tourism industry. This makes the BVGD a reliable and competent partner when it comes to matters concerning professional tourist guiding in Germany.
The BVGD is represented at the world’s largest travel fair, the ITB in Berlin, where it has a booth within the DZT section. BVGD representatives also regularly visit the leading European trade fair for international coach tourism, the RDA Workshop in Cologne. The BVGD likewise is represented at the annual German Tourism Day Meeting. In addition, the association regularly attends meetings of the Advisory Board of the DZT and takes part in the DTV committees “Sustainable Tourism” and “Quality Initiatives in Tourism”.
In 2011, the DTV added the BVGD “Certification for Guides according to European Standards” (Guidelines for the BVGD Certificate DIN EN 15565) to their list of “Quality Initiatives in Germany DMO / Service Certification”.
