With the BVGD qualification card, quality-conscious customers and tour operators can find out immediately about the qualification of a tourist guide in Germany. BVGD members carry qualification documents with a three-star system. They are each valid for three years and put regular and continuous training ahead. The card is regularly checked by the BVGD member organizations. Becoming a BVGD member, everyone commits themselves to training and continuous education.
The Commission for Vocational Education and Training (KBB) of the BVGD provides conditions that must be met for the award of one to three stars on the qualification card. Here is a sample of the document that only BVGD members are entitled to.
The award of the third star on the BVGD Qualification card can be achieved through training in accordance with European standard EN 15565. This standard, the BVGD implements since 2008. It is the European-wide training standard for tourist guides and within the German Association the highest level of qualification.
