The German National Tourist Guide Association (BVGD) is the umbrella organization of local and regional tourist guides’ associations in Germany. Founded in 1994 in Cologne, it represents around 234 cities and regions with about 7,500 guides.

All have received basic training, many od them hold a BVGD-training certificate or a certificate in accordance with the European Quality Standard for tour guides (DIN EN 15556).
